Our HistoryIn the mid-1980's I'd left a fleeting career doing radio news and somehow ended up working in retail selling ski & camping equipment. I scanned the Sunday want ads each week looking for something that sparked my interest. One week I saw an advertisement for "technicians" who had a background in audio or video.
And that's how I ended up a short time later working at the Disneyland Hotel as a technician in the AVHQ office located on property. I wasn't an immediate convert to the meetings industry. Back then I saw this as a stop along the way until I figured out what I wanted to do. But then slowly I realized that I loved the people, the constant change and the challenges behind the scenes of creating memorable experiences for an audience. Thirty years later, and after stops at numerous AV companies, event production companies and even my own internet startup. I've developed a passion, not just for the meetings industry itself, but specifically for helping to demystify technology for planners and help them make better informed decisions. |

Jon Trask, CMP, CMM
Jon has spent the last 30+ years in the audiovisual and technical production area of the meetings and events industry. Jon has spent time in nearly every niche of the audio visual industry. Working on meetings of all sizes and types. For over 9 years he co-hosted the "Meetings Podcast" reporting and discussing a wide variety of topics within the meetings industry. Currently he hosts the Strategic Meeting Tech Podcast here on this website via the Blog Page. Jon has also hosted a series of webinars on AV related topics and has written an e-book of AV Hints and Tips. He contributed to the recently published 9th edition of the CIC Manual, and frequently presents to industry groups on technology and audio visual topics. A 24-year member of MPI, he earned his CMP designation in 2003 and his CMM designation in 2013. He is supported by a team of contract and freelance staff built from relationships developed over his career. These include some of the finest experienced technicians and project mangers in California and Nevada. |
